In this regard, the author has tried to examine the structure, historical content, and educational function of historical plays by systematically collecting and studying theoretical sources related to dramatic literature and history education, as well as documenting a number of Iranian and non-Iranian historical plays; in order to clarify the importance of historical plays as both a source for studying and understanding history and a tool for teaching history. Findings: This is to prove the claim that familiarity with historical dramatic literature, especially historical plays, can be used both as a source for historical studies and an educational tool, and they can be used in three forms: individual reading, play reading, and also for performing plays.
