Abstract
Objective and Background: The present study was to investigate the methods of teaching and learning history through a systematic review. Method: A systematic search was conducted in foreign and domestic scientific databases from 2019 to 2024. After reviewing the title, finally, 38 studies were selected and the content analysis method was used to analyze the data. Finding: The results of the study showed that 5 categories of teaching and learning methods were identified for history lessons, which are: 1- Historical teaching method: which included the subcategories of historical analysis and document study, practical and historical archaeology, and multi-perspective approach. 2- Learner-centered teaching method: which included the subcategories of group discussion, problem solving, games, interactive teaching, skill training, flipped learning, and learning unit design. 3- Technology-based teaching method: included the subcategories of virtual and augmented reality, technology-based learning and media, media and educational content production, and virtual education. 4- Dramatic teaching method: included the subcategories of theater and drama, letter writing, storytelling, and drama. 5- Traditional teaching methods: included the subcategories of face-to-face teaching and lectures. Conclusion: It can be concluded that historical, learner-centered, technology-based, drama, and traditional teaching methods can be used to teach history in schools.
